Cricut??

So I've been researching cricut machines and products lately. The reason being... Bret works at a warehouse that sells them and could get me one for half price. Anyway, I just can't decide. It looks super fun... but is it worth it? I don't scrapbook THAT much. Apparently, you have to buy all these different cartridges to go with it (for fonts and shapes), sooooo it could get pricey. BUT, ebay is an option, looks like I could get fairly cheap ones on there. ALSO, there's a "black market" type software for it called "sure cuts a lot" that lets you use lots of different fonts without buying a bunch of cartridges.

Why it seems SUPER cool to me is...
1- Scrapbooking of course... it provides a lot of new ways to scrap-book.
2- Cards. I think it would be way fun to make cute little cards... ya know, for birthdays and holidays and thank-yous, and I love you's, and stuff like that.
3- Wall art. You can cut out letters and pictures on vinyl and stick them on your wall! I think it's cool. You could put sayings or words on the wall or decorate a child's room with cute little pictures.
4- Ummmmm there's a lot of other creative things I've seen as I've been lookin around. People decorating cakes, and making party favors, and decorating picture frames... and all sorts of things. I don't know. It just sounds like fun. :)

The Beginning

Hi! I'm Maridy. I guess it's time to start a blog. We'll see if I can figure it out. It's March 5th, and it snowed this morning. And really, I'm not very happy about that. I bought flip-flops yesterday. It's supposed to be warm. Dumb.

I guess this is the beginning. Bret and I have been married for six months and eleven days. We met in a singles ward in American Fork fifteen months ago. The story goes that he caught me staring at him in church. Eventually he asked me out. Our first date was the movie Bolt at the AF Cinemark. Since we were the only ones in the theater it was very enjoyable and we talked and laughed through the movie. Our courtship was a little rocky with my emotions and uncertainties, but around the end of May I decided I wanted to marry him. A funny story, he says we were just chatting on the couch one night when out of the blue I asked him a fairly bold question. I said, "So Bret, do you think we're going to break-up or get married?" Apparantly he felt this came out of nowhere and was pretty shocked by it. But it got him thinking and he proposed not too long after.

On the evening of the Proposal we had plans to go on a double date hiking with my brother. He wanted to go somewhere and eat beforehand. We stopped at his house because he said he had to get something. I followed him downstairs to the HUGE theater room. Then he told me to close my eyes. Weirdo. When I entered the room I smelt smoke. Then the music started, one of my most favoritest love songs! I opened my eyes and he had a table set up on the little stage with candles and my favorite lily flowers. It was beatiful, and I was so happy. :) We sat down and ate some yummy food. Then we finished, and he said that we should clean up and go on that hike. I thought it had all been a joke and he wasn't going to propose after all... it was weird. Then as we were getting up he got down on his knee and proposed. It was AWESOME. :)

Our engagement was fun, I loved planning the wedding details... but did get stressed a bit with my lack of decision skills. We did lots of fun summerish things together. He came camping with my family and I went camping with his. We were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on August 22, 2009 at 8:20 AM.

Our reception turned out beautifully, in my opinion. It was held in my grandparents' backyard in pleasant grove and was very purpley. He took me on a cruise to the bahamas for our honeymoon... and it was excellent.

Life these days isn't as exciting but it's still wonderful. We live in a good little apartment near UVU in Orem. We spend lots of time at our families' homes (which works out nicely since they live exceedingly close to each other). He's a very busy man, and I'm a very lazy woman. We're moving to Chicago on April 29. Bret is going to install security systems with AMP during the summer. I'm trying to be excited. It will be an adventure I'm sure, but still, it's a little scary. To sum it all up, life is life. We're very happy. I love my husband, he's simply the best I could ever have asked for. (and I'm sure he feels the same way about me...i hope...) We'll see how this blogging proceeds. Goodbye. :)
