To Brielle

Sweet Brielle~

Today I was given a tender mercy, a special moment from Heavenly Father. This world is majestic. His creations are amazing. I was at Utah Lake just watching the sky as the sun set. The sky and mountains were heavenly, it was a perfect moment. Then, I looked down and in my arms was something even more perfect and beautiful, another of God's creations. But not only His creation, you are his daughter, a daughter of God, a daughter of a king. You are divine and so loved.

I look at you, so perfect, so clean and fresh and beautiful. Then I think of this world, so beautiful but also full of corruption and evil and temptation and sadness. I wish you didn't have to ever experience that part of this world. I wish I could hide it from you and protect you. But I guess that is part of your test. You are a special spirit and I know you will remember your divine nature and learn to follow light and goodness. Let the Holy Ghost guide you through the maze of this fallen world.

You are divine but you will tempted and you will make mistakes. Let Jesus Christ lift you and carry you until you can stand on your own again. Don't lose sight of eternity, of who you are and where you are from. You are a princess visiting a fallen world. You are here to learn who you are and then to prove that you will be obedient to your Father. You are here to help your brothers and sisters to remember who they are as well so they're not lost. You are going to do wonderful things. You are so special. I am so blessed to be your Earthly mother. I love you, Brielle. :-)

My Homemade Baby Stuff

Recently I've really gotten into sewing baby stuff. I found a lot of different patterns and instructions online for making baby stuff. I haven't made much yet. I've almost finished a baby blanket... it's not super super great, but it is my first one. :)

I embroidered a little elephant, koala, and platypus on my mother-in-law's machine... and I'm pretty proud of them. :)

I've also been sewing little baby booties. I've done 11 so far. I took pictures of the ones that I haven't given away yet. I'm proud of them. :) I just hope they end of fitting an actual baby... haha

..................................................................................................
AND..... Last, but not least, I made a pin-cushion. No more poking my fingers in the tupperware container they've been in. Definately my most used project so far.... as I haven't actually even tried the shoes on any babies yet. :)

..................................................................................................
So, that's all I've got so far. I'm excited to try more projects. :) And, in case you were wondering, the answer is
NO..... I'm not pregnant. :)

48 hours!!!

We're almost finished!! And it's about time. We've been away for 4 months and it's been killin me. I miss Utah and and I miss my family. I miss the familiar surroundings of the beautiful area I grew up in, and the mountains- my favorite. I'm excited to be home :)...

So, somehow we managed to pack up our whole place and get ready to go today before bret and I went to work. Now we'll just throw it in the car and leave early in the morning. We're going to stop in Nauvoo, go to the temple, hang out, and then drive 5 hours to Omaha to spend the night. THEN we'll drive 13 hours on Thursday and get home late. Fun fun!!!

I don't know why I'm writing this... I just always wish I would write blog posts, soooo yep. Lata!

The Standard of Truth

“The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done."

His Friend

"One of the great tributes the Savior can give is to call us “friends.” We know that He loves with a perfect love all of His Heavenly Father’s children. Yet for those who have been faithful in their service with Him, He reserves this special title... We become His friends as we serve others for Him.

His power to change us

“When we are baptized, we take upon ourselves the sacred name of Jesus Christ. Taking upon us His name is one of the most significant experiences we have in life …"
-Elder Robert D. Hales of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

“I was with an eight-year-old girl on the day of her baptism. At the end of the day she said with all confidence, ‘I have been baptized for a whole day, and I haven’t sinned once!’ But her perfect day did not last forever, and I am sure she is learning by now, like we all learn, that as hard as we try, we do not always avoid every bad situation, every wrong choice …
“… It is not possible to make real change all by ourselves. Our own willpower and our own good intentions are not enough. When we make mistakes or choose poorly, we must have the help of our Savior to get back on track. We partake of the sacrament week after week to show our faith in His power to change us. We confess our sins and promise to forsake them.”
-Julie B. Beck, Relief Society general president.

To Live Greatly

From President Monson's talk from the June 2010 ensign entitled 'Canaries with Gray on Their Wings':

"To live greatly, we must develop the capacity to face trouble with courage, disappointment with cheerfulness, and triumph with humility. You ask, “How might we achieve these goals?” I answer, “By gaining a true perspective of who we really are!” We are sons and daughters of a living God, in whose image we have been created. Think of that: created in the image of God. We cannot sincerely hold this conviction without experiencing a profound new sense of strength and power."
